In which I play host
Last Sunday I issued VIP invitations to my dear friends having organised a Pimms Tent at the East Tisted Village Fete. My Chef prepared cordon-bark biscuits to my favourite recipe and Trophy Pet foods were alongside to provide toys as required.
We had an agility display team, as well as Hampshire Hunts Fun
Dog Show. I provided 'Temptation Alley'. The idea being that one is supposed to rush down Temptation Alley ignoring the many treats placed in ones path straight into the arms of ones housekeeping staff. I personally did exactly that, but then ran back the other way helping myself to treats!
We had a Bootiful Briard Class, which was judged by the lovely Shirley who travelled all the way from France. My lovely lady friends Tiff & Asti attended, as did my good friend Maggoo and his oh so young and enthusiastic sidekick Bisto.
Having exhausted the entertainment, we headed up the hill for a lovely walk along the old railway track. Maggoo and I agreed that Bisto was very young and annoying but the lovely Asti made sure he didn't get too big for his paws.
Tired and hot I invited everyone back to my abode for barking and a bbq. We all slept well that night, and are already looking forward to next years Fete ((o))
In which I model
Last Thursday my Chauffer was instructed to transport me up the A34 for a photo shoot with Nick Ridley. My Aunty Karen decided I was just too scrumptious not to do some dogelling and set it up for me. It was a hot day, but having been bathed and groomed by Aunty Angela at Dapper Dogs, I was feeling good and looking fab....
Upon my arrival I was glad to note that Nick offered me water prior to offering a drink to
Muvva (also Chauffer). I like a chap who has his priorities straight and he commented upon what a handsome chap I was. I could already tell we would work well together.
Nick has a lovely field full of buttercups, which I wanted to eat but was advised not to. And so began an hour of leaping about, sitting and staying and mostly doing as I was told. He had a great wooden whistle which sort of sounded like a duck. Once or twice I very nearly pounced upon his lap but thought better of it.
Nick was very concerned that I was happy and enjoying myself. That was nice of him, but with a tennis ball, football, camera and a big empty field it would be hard not to be.... particularly when one is the center of attention.
Eventually the heat did begin to take its toll and having had a big drink
of water my beard and chops weren't looking at their best which just won't do.
Nick is hopeful that the shots we took will used and thinks I may get more assignments.... possibly at the beach next time which will be a joy. I hope you enjoy the photos my friends, at least as much as I enjoyed having them taken! ((o))
In which I swim
The other Saturday I was chauffeured to Hydrotherapy Four Paws in Wickham. This is a large swimming pool facility which helps dogs recover from leg and hip injuries. Well I have neither, and to my horror was informed that Muvva had booked me in for a 'fun session'.... grrrr.
I checked out the pool with caution, and was offered a biscuit upon my arrival. This my doggy friends is a sure sign that something horrid is about to happen. My Auntie Sarah was dressed in what can only be described as a black sausage skin which would usually interest me... however it was called a wet suit which clearly meant lots of water was involved.
I was placed in a buoyancy jacket and my usual sparkly collar was replaced by something nylon and
functional. The horror! Muvva and Sarah walked me up a ramp to the top of the pool, when I was politely invited to dip my paw. Surprisingly the water was nice and warm but sadly very clean with no mud or sticks. I splashed and splashed and splashed so they were both soaked which I considered to be karma! They tempted me to swim up and down chasing various squeaky toys and tennis balls, and I was regularly taken to the ramp to rest. After 15 minutes of this and having convinced them both that swimming isn't my strong point, I was removed from the pool to be washed and dried and have lots of towel rubs.
I accepted a biscuit on my way out as the worst of it was over, and that afternoon had a glorious nap and did lots of doga stretches. Whilst I'm not letting on to Muvva, I did enjoy my swimming experience and am secretly hoping she takes me again! ((o))
